Nusa Penida’s Manta Bay is a dream destination for snorkelers and divers hoping to encounter majestic manta rays in their natural habitat. If you’re staying in Seminyak and planning a trip to Manta Bay, understanding the distance and best travel options will ensure a smooth and enjoyable adventure.

Step 1: Travel from Seminyak to Sanur Harbor

The journey to Nusa Penida starts with reaching Sanur Harbor, the main departure point for speedboats. Since there is no direct ferry from Seminyak, you’ll need to take one of the following transport options:

  • Private Car/Taxi – The most convenient option, taking around 45 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Shuttle Service – Some tour operators provide shared shuttle services, which are a budget-friendly choice.

Step 2: Take a Speedboat to Nusa Penida

From Sanur Harbor, you’ll need to board a speedboat to Nusa Penida. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Boats leave frequently from around 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • The ride takes 30–45 minutes, depending on sea conditions.

  • Various operators run this route, and it’s best to book tickets in advance, especially in peak season.

  • Expect to wade through shallow water to board the boat, so wear appropriate footwear!
