Lempuyang Temple is a sacred holy place in Tista Village, Abang District, Karangasem Regency. Its location is precisely on a hill (named “Bukit Bisbis”) with green nature surrounds as tropical forest.

On arrival at parking area of the temple, you are required to wear a Balinese Traditional Fabric (called as Sarong) and a shawl as a dress code when entering the holy temple.

Next, you must trek to follow footpath and stairs. It is so exciting because you will see directly soothing green trees alongside the route.

When arriving at first entrance of the temple area, you will be splashed Tirta (Holy Water) by staff as a sign that you are ready to enter into the temple.

In the temple, you also will see the grandeur of Balinese Split Gates which stands at entrance of the temple. The gates look so impressive in traditional architecture with some unique statues (in form of Dragon and Pandawa Figures).

Meanwhile, Mount Agung (the highest in Bali) can be also seen from the temple. Its stunning landscape is often combined the gates into photography background by the visitors.

  1. Tirta Gangga Water Palace – Unique Architecture and Beautiful Water Garden

Tirta Gangga Water Palace is also located in east end of the island and exactly in southwest of Lempuyang Temple. You probably take 25 minutes to drive from the temple to get there.

The water palace was a heritage by Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem (a king of Karangasem Kingdom in 1946, and built in architecture Between Balinese and Chinese Style.

Its area consists of green garden, traditional buildings, and also pools. Here, you can spend time to explore around the palace while seeing stunning panorama and colorful fishes in the pools.
